celebrate: mother’s day

Berry Tasty Breakfast Cups

Mother’s Day is right around the corner!!

I know that, as a mother, I dream of breakfast in bed, flowers, and drawings from my children.  It really is  a time that I love to sit back and think about what a blessing it is to have my 3 beautiful children.

Every mother’s day, my mom plans a big dinner to invite everyone over for so that all of her daughters and daughter in law don’t have to cook dinner that night. (I know – it doesn’t make total sense since she is a mother, too!!) But since dinner is already taken care of, the husbands and kids get to take care of breakfast, right?

celebrate: national grilled cheese day

April 11th, 2013 - by

Did you know that tomorrow is National Grilled Cheese day?

Well, in honor of such a fine day, I wanted to share with you a recent grilled cheese discovery I made!  I love to use my panini maker, and one day I ended up with the combination of ham, havarti cheese, and fig butter!  It was such an interesting combo, and figs go great with cheese and meats!  I find my fig butter at my local Trader Joe’s.

So, what are your favorite grilled cheese pairings?  Do you like jams with your savory sandwiches?

Happy National Grilled Cheese Day!

30 Last Minute Appetizers

I was with my two of my sisters and my mom last night, and we started talking about what we are all bringing to our New Year’s Eve celebration tonight.  I was surprised to find out that out of the four of us, I was the only one who knew what I was going to bring.  So I’m assuming many of you are in the same boat this morning – looking around trying to find out what delicious food you want to add to your New Year’s festivities.

I thought I’d share with you a fun “Turkey Snack” that the kids will love regardless if it is Thanksgiving day or not.  My children are constantly asking me for snacks all day.  So one day I decided to surprise them with a fun snack shaped as a turkey, they thought it was so cool, and “gobbled” it right up!

With a little imagination and effort, it isn’t too hard  to make a fun snack for the kids.
