recipe: green smoothie

January 24th, 2013 - by

So, have you stuck to your New Year’s resolutions to eat better? If yes, then good job! If you need a little help getting back on track, then green smoothies are a great option!  I drink one everyday for breakfast, and I love the energy it gives me, and it helps me crave more fruits and vegetables throughout the day!  This is my current favorite recipe, filled with kiwi, pear, spinach, cucumber, apple, just to name a few of the ingredients!

Green Smoothie

2 kiwis, peeled
1 pear, quartered
1 green granny smith apple, quartered
1/2 of a cucumber, peeled
1 banana, preferably frozen
2 large handfuls of spinach
1 cup ice
1 cup rice milk

Place ingredients in a high powered blender and blend!  Drink up! To your health!

*If you do not have a high powered blender, then I would suggest that you cut up the ingredients small before blending, also half the recipe depending on how big your blender is.

Enjoy!

This recipe looks great! Would it work to juice them instead of blending them?

i’m sure it would. you may have to leave out ice and a little rice milk.

I just purchased a Vitamix and I am looking for smoothie recipes. This recipe will work well in my blender. I will try it this weekend. Thanks.

I made this smoothie this morning using my Vitamix, and it was delicious. The recipe was enough for two, so I drank one and froze the other. Now I have one for tomorrow morning. Thanks.
